This is a full-time position. FIA uses a hybrid model in our organization, meaning we have 3 in office work days and 2 remote work days per week, in addition to some in-person and virtual evening meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Campaign Operations Management: You will oversee project management in operations, meeting project goals, hiring vendors, and managing timelines. Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • You will collaborate with communications and organizing teams to ensure operations of our campaigns are seamless, and conduct weekly data entry and reports.
  • Team Tools: In this area of responsibility, you will manage our data systems like Murmuration and Quorum, manage the implementation of project management tools, and eventually train new staff on our operations tools like Google Workspace and Monday.com.
  • General Operations: You will have the chance to support our board of directors by managing communications, scheduling, meeting logistics, and taking minutes at meetings. You will also maintain accurate records and provide regular reports on operations-related activities.
  • Finance: In this area, you will create and manage contracts, vendors, and agreements. You’ll also monitor campaign budgets and operational goals, process invoices and monitor payments for vendors and contractors. Finally, you will ensure documents like ACH forms and W-9s are completed and filed.
  • Other: Perform other duties as required to support the work of colleagues and the organizations’ mission as a whole.

Requirements

  • Experienced Leader: At least 4 years of professional experience.
  • Gets Things Done. Demonstrated experience accomplishing important goals, and can play the roles of individual contributor on our small team as well as managing and directing the work of others and delegating effectively.
  • Effective Project Manager & Logistics Leader: You enjoy creating, implementing and streamlining multiple projects and systems into a seamless operation. When facing a complex issue or project, instinct is to break it down into manageable pieces to determine the most efficient solution - and then prioritize against competing project needs in order to execute effectively and drive results. You identify potential pitfalls in a project and finds a way to avoid or fix them.
  • Flexible and Collaborative: You are comfortable in the environment of a small team working in a dynamic political and advocacy space where resourcefulness, persistence, and patience are particularly required. You have the flexibility to adjust to external political demands, evolving priorities, and procedures. You have a willingness to work as collaborative member and contribute to a team in a dynamic, learning-oriented environment.

  • Unusually Organized: You often get compliments on how organized you are at work and in your personal life. You have battle-tested organizational systems that you’re ready to implement but you are constantly learning and communicating to seek ways to improve.
  • Driver License and Eligibility to Work: A valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle (needed to fulfill job requirements) and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.


Preferred:

  • Oakland Education Experience: experience working in the Oakland education ecosystem is preferred but not required.
  • Financial Experience: experience working with financial operations in a previous role is preferable for this role but not a requirement.
  • Experience in Multiracial, Multilingual Communities: the ideal candidate will have shared life experiences and/or identities with the families we work with in Oakland and/or experience working in African American, Latinx communities and/or multiracial, multilingual communities.
  • Technical Expertise: experience working with our tools is a nice-to-have but not required. Currently, these include Murmuration, Quorum, Monday.com, and Google Workspace.
  • Proficiency in Spanish: is desirable but not required.
